Your day-to-day experience will vary across rotations, from working alongside scientists, engineers and technical specialists to contributing to project outcomes, engaging with stakeholders, and applying your knowledge to solve complex challenges with real-world impact.
What success looks like
By the end of the program, you will have:
- Built practical capability through exposure across multiple teams
- Contributed to projects delivering real outcomes
- Developed strong professional relationships across ANSTO
- Demonstrated the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within teams
- Established a clear pathway into an ongoing role aligned to your skills and interests
We’re looking for graduates who:
- Have recently completed, or are in their final year of, a Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a strong desire to contribute
- Are motivated by working on complex problems with national significance

- Physics / Nuclear Physics
- Engineering (Nuclear, Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Systems, Chemical)
- Chemistry / Radiochemistry / Analytical / Environmental Chemistry
- Materials Science
- Data Science / Software Engineering / Computing
- Accounting (Corporate)
Eligibility and application process

- Be Australian citizens
- Be able to obtain and maintain an ANSTO security suitability assessment
- Successfully complete pre-employment medical assessments
