About the Opportunity

The Licensing and Operations Officer leads the management of licencing and regulatory requirements for the Nuclear Materials Research and Technology Group.  This role ensures that relevant prescribed radiation facilities are available to researchers and users in accordance with safety, quality, regulatory and compliance obligations. Through your technical understanding and knowledge of highly regulated industries, you will provide the broader collective expert advice on operating within the prescribed facilities, as well as contribute to the effective operations of the facilities.

About You

I am looking for a knowledgeable and experienced technical expert seeking to establish themselves in safety and compliance domain of nuclear. The role holder will be provided training and development to broaden their horizon regarding compliance aspects to be equipped to perform well in the role.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure world-class prescribed radiation facilities support internal stakeholders, academic, industrial and commercial clients. This includes technical feasibility and safety reviews of proposals and client requests. Work with members of the team to provide expert knowledge to support the development of the user community, experiments, data analysis, processes, and facility-based user training.
  • Develop and implement plans including objectives, targets, and activities to achieve the facilities management operational strategy. Monitor and evaluate the activities of the prescribed radiation facilities according to ANSTO’s legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for leading all aspects of the facilities management operations with the prescribed radiation facilities including the source licence requirements in order to support ANSTO’s research mission, its operations and to external clients. The role includes identifying resources, preparing operational plans for the delivery of projects.
  • Leads, reviews and authorises all planned compliance requirements for the facilities management team including change control assessment.
