  • Work in a campus-based community environment with free onsite parking
  • Support applied research into the processing of critical minerals, including rare earths, lithium, and uranium. 

About the Opportunity

ANSTO Minerals is a business unit with global recognition in critical minerals processing, consisting of more than 60 consultants and technicians with expertise covering hydro- and pyro-metallurgy, applied chemistry / chemical engineering, mineralogical characterisation and radionuclide management. ANSTO Minerals brings practical solutions and innovative technology to flowsheet development in ways that deliver financial and environmental benefits to the critical minerals industry.

This role will support strategic, applied / translational research and development activities relating to the processing of critical minerals such as rare earths and lithium along with uranium and other minerals containing radioactivity. This role represents an opportunity to make a tangible impact in advancing Australia’s domestic capability in an industry that is critical to the global energy transition.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

This is a Band 4/Band 5 linked role. Successful candidates may be hired at Band 4 or Band 5, with key accountabilities at each level outlined below. If hired at Band 4 the progression pathway to Band 5 is as outlined in the position description.

 

 

Key Accountabilities Band 4                                  

 

  • Assist senior professionals in the execution of strategic applied / translational research and development programs.
  • Set up and conduct experimental work and ensure that the data obtained is reproducible, accurate and appropriately recorded.
  • Summarise data from experimental research and commercial test work programs to ensure that the project manager receives reliable data in a reportable format.

 

 

Key Accountabilities Band 5

 

 

In addition to the above accountabilities of the band 4 role, the band 5 key accountabilities include:

 

  • Prepare draft technical notes, research papers and commercial reports for review by senior professionals.
  • Prepare draft test work proposals and associated project cost estimates for review by senior professional.
  • Independently prepare risk assessments for review by senior professional.
  • Actively participate in meetings with client representatives.
