About the Opportunity

 

The Scientist, Bulk Materials Analysis will provide expertise in analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, geochemistry, or materials characterisation, to support nuclear forensic capability extension projects. The position contributes scientific knowledge to ensure the trusted advice and specialised services provided by Nuclear Forensics meet user requirements.

 

You will have excellent communication skills to build strong working relationships with our internal and external stakeholders. Your willingness to develop improved processes and procedures while adhering to safety and security requirements will achieve the high quality outputs required of the position. 

About You

 

"Looking for an experienced, meticulous chemist/radiochemist/materials scientist/geochemist with expertise in an analytical instrument technique to engage in operationally driven science for a variety of stakeholders. This position presents a new challenge for the successful applicant will who have the unique opportunity to develop their profile in the discipline of nuclear forensic science". Your Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Apply scientific knowledge and technical expertise to the planning, undertaking and reporting of operational and capability extension projects to maintain and strengthen ANSTO’s Nuclear Forensic capability.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to technical staff within the Nuclear Forensics team with the aim of building team capabilities.
  • Provide scientific knowledge to ensure the trusted advice and specialised service provided by the Nuclear Forensic capability area meet customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the planning and undertaking of experimental work, including assessing and interpreting experimental results, to meet group requirements.
