The Senior Manager Nuclear Assurance role helps strengthen ANSTO’s safety assurance of our licence to operate, so our nuclear medicine, science and technology can continue delivering life-changing benefits for Australians in a safe, secure and sustainable way.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

The primary objectives of the Senior Manager Nuclear Assurance are;

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership, inspiring direction and development of capability in people, systems and processes. Delivering the assurance activities from the safety, reliability and assurance (SRA) process outcomes in new and innovative ways as a champion of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring processes can be operationalised in an effective manner, minimising impost on Business Units. Support and identify opportunities to streamline cross divisional safety processes.
  • Support the Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO).
  • Act as the deputy and delegate for the Chief Nuclear Officer during periods of leave and other times as necessary to ensure continuity of process.
  • Manages Line 2 nuclear and radiological assurance activities/initiatives across the ANSTO Group adding value through risk reduction and increased organisational sustainability, the line 2 works include systems, structures and components, nuclear safety reviews, nuclear baseline and safety, reliability and assurance periodic reviews.
  • Sponsor for key nuclear related initiatives and projects as agreed with the CNO / CEO
  • Advocate, communicate and educate key stakeholders regarding the importance of safe, secure and sustainable nuclear science and technology.
