About the Opportunity

The Safety, Risk and Control Expert supports the management of radioactive waste at ANSTO through the delivery and maintenance of the safety case. This includes risk assessments, hazard identification and the implementation and monitoring of effective controls. The position ensures that activities meet safety and regulatory obligations and ensures that risks are integrated into decision making.

About You

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy for, and lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of Waste Management Services' safety case
  • Deliver high quality risk assessments for continuous improvement activities, breakdown repair, emergency activities and changes driven through Waste Management Services or other capital projects to ensure that all safety and operational impacts of the proposed changes are considered and implemented to time and budget
  • Establish and improve oversight of the monitoring and assurance system for hazard controls
  • Provide strategic input and analysis on radioactive waste issues to management and the ANSTO Board as well as to external regulators and other government departments.
